About Kirk A

Kirk A. Wesley is a community organizer and strategic advisor with over a decade of experience of building and supporting grassroots coalitions and political entities who center their work around social and racial justice. Inspired by Barack Obama’s 2008 Presidential campaign and the slogan of “Yes We Can,” Kirk has grown from a “Youthful Offender” to a seasoned leader and advocate able to navigate the nuanced intersections of diverse communities and progressive spaces.

Kirk started his professional career in 2010 as a volunteer Field Organizer on Connecticut’s 4th District Congressman Jim Himes’ first re-election campaign, and has since gone on to lead and advise political campaigns in multiple states across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. As a campaign strategist and senior advisor, Kirk has provided guidance to the winning campaigns of the Mayor of Atlantic City, the Baltimore City State’s Attorney, and played a key role in the 2018 election of the Governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, by overseeing the statewide field program that led to historic turnout across Connecticut’s cities.

Later that year, Kirk started Kirk Wesley, LLC- a boutique community outreach consulting company specializing in youth and urban engagement strategies. Since its inception, KW, LLC has partnered with multiple community, social, educational and religious organizations/institutions to engage over 50,000 people and pass groundbreaking legislation like Clean Slate and REL Data.

Feeling the need to play a more active role in the healing of racial tensions during the height of the civil unrest around the murder of George Floyd, Kirk co-founded Building Leaders Across Communities (BLAC) Strategies, INC., a registered 501(c)3, as a vehicle that specializes in providing diverse communities with leadership development training and strategies through the lens of racial equity and gender justice.

Also feeling the need to offer support not only to communities of color, but also to struggling allies, he created BLAC Strategies’ flagship initiative White Ally Coaching, a DEI program designed to give people who do not identify as BIPOC practical information and tangible skills on how to use their whiteness to be an effective support for those who do identify as BIPOC in personal and professional spaces.
